This gear belonged to a friend of mine who used it during his Navy career.
Yours for the cost of the postage, if you think you can use it.
I think I can fit this all into a Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box.
Shoot me an email if you are interested : oliphant.chuckerbutty@gmail.com

I cannot use it, I just wanted to say that these things look so cool. I love the mechanical purposeful nature of old camera gear.

I’m teaching my STEM class about cameras this year. I can definitely use them. Let me know how much the postage is and how you want me to send you funds.

I’d take it but I already have a vintage mechanical slr (that oddly enough has a similar history to yours)

The ae1 is actually not mechanical. Shutter is electronically controlled, won't fire without a battery.

Part of me wants to buy an old Leica, but part wants to buy one of the Russian knockoffs for shih-tsu giggles. Let me know if the other guy doesn’t work out. I got about 10 film cameras, but none on the canon system...

I have no use, but that is a beautiful piece of equipment

I eschewed digital cameras when they first came out, but all the gear I use has been far more than paid for by photo processing I do not have to pay for.

There are people out there who adapt old-school Leica glass to shoot on Canon DSLR bodies.

Having it go for
the benefit of society would be about the best possible outcome for me.

That's dumb. Mine just uses a battery for the light meter.

Looks like other are ahead of me in line, but I'll take it if they fall through. Email sent!

...and it’s the glass that makes the difference.

But manual focus would be difficult. And the Leica lenses keep a lot of value. I saw an image on a guy's desktop from across the room and I said, "Ooh, what's up with that picture?" Dude was Chinese and spoke about seven words of English, but he was adapting Leica lenses onto a Canon 5D body.

I have no use for said camera (I currently have 2 AE-1 programs and an A-1, and formerly owned an AE-1), but I must say they are pretty nice cameras. Also that rail attachment/macro adapter looks pretty cool. I shoot a lot of film and usually prefer the older fully manual cameras such as my Pentax collection, but those Canons have such a definitive shutter click. It’s really easy to fix the shutter “squeak” many of those develop, and even the electromagnet switch for the shutter isn’t too complicated either. The FD lenses are pretty plentiful and quality for adapting to stuff too. A good first camera for someone looking to play around with film/learn manual exposure

Yes; they are excellent. I used Pentax Spotmatic bodies until I took the DSLR plunge.
